Daniel Class

Daniel was a Jew who lived in Judah.  Unfortunately, he was exiled to Babylon after King Nebuchadnezzar conquered Judah.  In Babylon, Daniel faced a lot of pressure to give up his beliefs but he stood strong and continued to believe and pray to God.  As a result, God blessed Daniel with wisdom and the ability to interpret dreams.

King Nebuchadnezzar, as well as other Babylonian Kings, used Daniel's gift to help them understand their dreams.  This results in the King appointing Daniel to a high position and lavishing him with many gifts.  He was made ruler over the whole province of Babylon, as well as chief over all the wise men.  It also allowed King Nebuchadnezzar to recognise God, despite not believing in Him before.  In Daniel 4:37, the King declared, "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give praise and honour and glory to the King of heaven.  Everything he does is right.  He is always fair.  And he is able to make proud people humble."

In the Book of Daniel, we also saw how God protected Daniel.  During the reign of King Darius, the King saw how wise Daniel was and considered making him in charge of the whole kingdom.  This made the other governors jealous of Daniel and they started to plot against him.  They convinced King Darius to pass a law that condemned those who worshipped anyone but the King to death.

After this was signed, Daniel continued to pray to God three times a day and was caught.  The King had no choice but to throw Daniel into the lion's den.  However, God sent an angel to protect Daniel and he was not harmed.  After the King saw how God protected Daniel, he was overjoyed and declared, "I am making a new law.  This law is for people in every part of my Kingdom.  All of you must fear and respect the God of Daniel.  Daniel's God is the living God.  He lives forever.  His kingdom will never be destroyed.  His rule will never end.  God rescues and saves people.  God does might miracles in heaven and on earth, God saved Daniel from the power of the lions" (Daniel 6: 26-27).
